2023 IGL Retriever Championship Results

The 2023 IGL Retriever Championship was held at the Queensberry Estate, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland by the kind and generous invitation of His Grace the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KBE, DL on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th November 2023.

The judges were Nigel Carville, Greig Paterson, Steve Richardson and Mike Rolland.

The Steward of the Beat was Head Keeper Rab Clark.

Awards

1st HM King Charles III’s FTCh Buccleuch Bowhill of Sandringham handled by David Lisett and awarded the The Retriever Trials Championship Challenge Cup, The Lady Auckland Memorial Salver, The Hiwood Challenge Trophy, The Lorna Countess Howe Memorial Trophy and the IGL President’s Trophy.

2nd Louie Robertson’s FTCh Mitforton Onour awarded the FTCh Ulstaire Style Challenge Trophy

3rd David Logan’s FTCh Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae awarded the Lorna Countess Howe Memorial Trophy for the best dog entered by an owner resident in Scotland.

4th Sarah Miles’s Texacali Praline of Meonvalley

2023 Championship-change of venue

The Officers and Committee of the International Gundog League are pleased to announce that the IGL Retriever Championship 2023 will be held at the Queensberry Estate, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland by the kind and generous invitation of His Grace the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KBE, DL on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th November 2023.


We are extremely grateful to His Grace for extending this invitation to the Queensberry Estate at such short notice.

Unforeseen events necessitated relocating the IGL Retriever Championship 2023 from the Bowhill Estate, as previously announced. We are grateful to Stuart and Kay Riddell of Hawthorn Sporting at Bowhill for their interest in hosting the Championship and wish them and their business well for 2023 and beyond.

His Grace and the Officers and Committee of the International Gundog League very much look forward to welcoming you to the Queensberry Estate.

1st Kevin Butler’s FTCh Turpingreen Bohol awarded the Retriever Trials Championship Challenge Cup, the Lady Auckland Memorial Salver, the Hiwood Challenge Trophy and the IGL President’s Trophy for the winner and the Kingsford-Lethbridge Trophy for the breeder of the winner.

The Committee, in organising the Championship, has been led by its objective to deliver a safe environment for all attending, whilst we still remain in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. We ask you to exercise caution, act responsibly and apply vigilance at all times.

When parking we would ask you to respect our advice of a one and a half door width apart from each vehicle.

Please carry a suitable face covering at all times. Wear your face covering if you feel vulnerable in any situation, especially when entering confined spaces, and also whilst in possible large clusters, which might be unavoidable. Remember Hands, Face and Space

A registration protocol for all attendees has been implemented. You must register to attend the event. The IGL Committee reserve the right to request any person to be removed if required.
